The Lost City of the Monkey God Discovered

LOST CITY DISCOVERIES IN THE AMAZON JUNGLE OF HONDURAS

THE ANCIENT CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD – Chapter 1

For hundreds of years, explorers have tried to locate the ancient lost city of the Monkey God. In the last few years, researchers and professionals have not only discovered its location but also traveled into the Amazon to uncover its secrets. You might think this story has ended, but it has only begun. The professionals and filming crew had abandoned the ruins due to a curse. The city is still very much unexplored. This is a true story about the history and discovery of the Ancient City of the Monkey God. Because of modern-day discoveries, the city has been renamed “The City of the Jaguar.”

HISTORY OF THE LOST CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD

THE ANCIENT CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD – Chapter 2

La Ciudad Blanca is another name for the Lost City of the Monkey God. Spanish explorers named it that due to the legends of the city built of whites stones. Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortez reported that he believed the stories were trustworthy from towns and people of the villages in the area. As we know, Cortez did not find the White City (La Ciudad Blanca), and his efforts ended in failure.

Side note: Cortez heard that a rich gold mine was somewhere in the area of the White City. It is suggested that the builders of the city also mined the gold. Cortez called the mine El Dorado. There is no claim that Cortez found the lost gold mine.

Since Cortez, nothing of the city was mentioned again, until 1920 when reports started coming in of a white city discovery deep in the jungle.

A local came forward claiming he found it 25 years before that after becoming lost looking for rubber deposits in the forest. He claimed that he noticed white stone walls and structures.

In 1939 someone claimed to have found the White City of the Monkey God,  but he did not tell of its location so many people discarded his claim.

Again in the 1950s, a small group set out to find the famous White city but they were unsuccessful. It wasn’t until the 1990s when an author and Archaeologist not only wrote a book about the lost city, but it was when modern-day technology like LiDar was later put to use to locate the ruins in the 2000s. That is when the City of the Monkey God really started to take its place in modern-day history. During this decade, it has also been renamed the Lost City of the Jaguar. This site has more names than I can remember. That also tells me that it is in its early state of being understood and discovered.

It never fails. Every time I research a new location or legend, I find reports of Spanish Conquistadors trying to find it hundreds of years before I get to it. I know the behavior of the Spanish and I know of their intent in the earlier days. They wanted to plunder and conquer any significant city they could get their hands on.

I take this as an opportunity. The Spanish spent a lot of manpower and force to find important treasures and sites. If the Spanish were onto this lost city, there must have been some extraordinary stories about it.

WHO BUILT THE WHITE CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD?

THE ANCIENT CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD – Chapter 3

This question and answer could be one of the greatest mysteries of this story. No one knows. At this point in time, it was built by known civilizations. This seems like a great starting point. If we do not know this part of the story, it leaves tons and questions unanswered.

  • When was the city built?
  • Who built it?
  • Where did they come from?
  • Why was the city abandoned?
  • What happened to the people who left it?

I wish I had the answers or even a direction to give you, as the reader, but I don’t. I think if someone was to really bite down and work on this part of the story, many answers would follow. If we only knew who the people were before they built the great city or where they went after, that would be a good starting point but I can’t find that information either.

The story is getting more and more intriguing. Many times I try to find a lost city, treasure, mine, and more from the information that was left behind. In this case, the city was found, without that information, prior to discovering its location.

That leaves me to think there’s only one thing that could be done to find more data, uncover the city, and conduct a full archaeology and anthropology investigation. If we know where the city is located then that would be the next step. With modern day technology, I could only imagine what can be found with metal detectors, GPR systems, and excavating the area.

THE CURSE OF THE LOST CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD

THE ANCIENT CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD – Chapter 4

For hundreds of years, locals have stayed out of this section of the jungle due to the urban legends of curses, deaths, and disappearances from people who have ventured into the area looking for the city. Urban legends also speak of disturbing the city and even taking objects out of the city. Out of fear, this city has laid to rest their interest and the jungle claims more and more of its secrets, structures, and artifacts. The acknowledgment of if the curse was true or false was unproven until the expedition of 2017 by producers, camera crews, archaeologists, anthropologists, and more.

THE LOST CITY OF THE MONKEY IS NO LONGER LOST

THE ANCIENT CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD – Chapter 5

National Geographic published an article in March of 2015 telling a story of the discoveries and the team that ventures into the Honduran rain forest. Another interesting event happened in 2017 when a producer announced that the documentary called “The Lost City of the Monkey God” would be released in 2018. The documentary shows and tells of the team’s expedition into the jungle and what they found.

Not only did the documentary show that the legends are true about a lost city in the jungle, they think that there’s much more to be found.

The team did report that they found several artifacts lying on the surface but the most interesting subject was, what was in the ground? The team went on to explain that the jungle has reclaimed almost all the structures.

Lost City of the Monkey God or Jaguar City Honduras

I, personally, have seen this in the Yucatan, near Chichen Itza. You can see that man-made structures curve the earth in an unnatural way. Dome shaped hills form when structures have been buried by natural causes after hundreds and thousands of years. We don’t know what is under the ground, but it could possibly be one of the biggest discoveries of our time.

As the team of specialists made base camp and started their refined search, more objects, artifacts, and clues to the city were starting to be uncovered. The same archeological method was used as it has been done on many other sites. The specialists started to determine that their findings were somewhat the same as Mesoamerica sites found in Central America. Some of the figures they started to find seemed to be wearing helmets. The helmets are what really caught my attention. The mighty Incas, Aztecs, Mayans, and Toltecs did not have armor made of metal. The question of “Who was this civilization” is a very important one. The estimated date of the objects were placed at 1000 – 1400 A.D. The lack of time the officials had at this site due to illnesses makes me wonder if that date is correct. Could this site be older than they think? The cultures from around that time period do not talk about Monkey Gods and men with helmets. I think the site needs a lot more research and studies done to uncover the secrets and mysteries of these ancient people. The site could be holding onto an untold history that can help us better understand the cultures of Central America.

Most of these objects were uncovered in a way that they could leave the site but the objects would still be preserved in their natural habitat.

INFORMATION OF THE CITY OF THE MONKEY STARTS TO WITHER AWAY

THE ANCIENT CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD – Chapter 6

National Geographic had no more to say in its article than the information in this article. Reports of the expedition going bad started coming from other reports. The documentary that was filmed in 2017 is hard to find on the internet and I am still today looking for a way to view it. But that didn’t stop others from reporting that many of the team members at the site started to get sick and the team and its filming crew left the site.

Reports of a sickness that some call “flesh eating disease” started flooding in. Two members of the team almost lost their lives in the hospital while everyone else was experiencing the same flesh eating wounds on their bodies. At first, all the team members had hundreds of bug bites on the face, arms, and legs but that was only the beginning of this disease. Even a month after returning to their homes, the wounds started getting bigger and bigger and even opening up the skin.

All the team members had to seek medical help and treatment for a long period of time to stop the disease from imminent death. Since this situation, the site has been abandoned and the study has come to a halt. A discovery so grand cannot go on due to this sickness and fear. Where does that leave the White City investigation? Nowhere at this point.

It’s only been 4 years since the team abandoned the city and no new information has been released. Another great story and discovery has gone cold. What happens now? Because professionals and expeditions like this are usually controlled and funded by big organizations, safety measures must be taken. I don’t know if any big outfit will ever venture into this area again.

Many people believe that the curse is true and that the curse (the sickness) is what drove the original people who built the city from the area. If this is true, there’s a good chance that the sickness has been around for hundreds to thousands of years.

COMMENTS FROM THE AUTHOR | TIMOTHY DRAPER – HISTORICAL TREASURE HUNTER

THE ANCIENT CITY OF THE MONKEY GOD – Chapter 7

I have been studying and following this legend since 2014. This was the time that discoveries were becoming public because of the use of LiDar. Structures and a massive city were found by using LiDar and modern day software. I have been hunting and researching lost cities for over 23 years now and it’s been hard to sit back and patiently wait, knowing the location of the Lost City of the Monkey God.

Sickness or no sickness, there’s a buried city that could not only be withholding treasures but also a historical significance that could paint a great picture of the lost history. There hasn’t been a month that has gone by that I haven’t thought about this story. How could I get my team in the area and back out again without putting my team’s lives in jeopardy? That is the million dollar question that I’ve been trying to figure out.

There are more cities than the City of the Monkey God in this area of Honduras. There have been many reports of many lost cities around the City of the Monkey God. LiDar revealed that many cities are spread throughout the area and many suggest that these unknown people lived similar to the Mayan people and how modern day cities are built; A main capital city is surrounded by suburbs, smaller towns, and villages. The Maya people lived the same way. It’s a significant way to design and bring order to a large population of people.

Top Secrets Information about the City of the Monkey God

I have more confidential information that shows that an organization located many cities around the perimeter of the City of the Monkey God. There were enough cities and structures found that they were named “Target 1”, “Target 2”, “Target 3”, and so on. I believe there were as many as 14 targets located in total in the vicinity.

If you are someone who is interested in discovering these lost ruins, please reach out to me. My team is ready to go and my contacts and resources are vast. The cost for a voyage like this would be high to start the search correctly. I could take my team and start looking without much financing but in order to scan the area with LiDar, bring in a team of specialists, and ensure that the people are protected and safe while successful discoveries are made is necessary.

If you have any information or even finances that can help my research and bring possibilities so I can take my team into the jungle with safety, I am all ears. Please contact me using the form below.
